MCDONALDS
McDonalds Billboard
There's a particular billboard in Toronto that's on the freeway and it's only 300 metres from a McDonalds. The client kindly let us use this space to direct traffic to their restaurant. I love the simplicity of what we created here. In fact we created something that the client totally embraced and so did the creative industry as it collected a Grand Prix at Cannes for the most outstanding poster campaign.
McDONALD'S ONLINE ORDERING
Hot off the press, a campaign that promotes McDonald's latest offering...mobile ordering! Wherever you are you can order your favourite without stepping through the doors of the restaurant. You can then decide to collect your order or indeed have it delivered direct to your home...or your mates home if the party is happening there. Cool.
I'm pleased as punch that we managed to get this away. I worked with a fantastic, dedicated team which makes my life much easier and the results speak for themselves.
BIG MAC WITH BACON
This is one of my latest pieces of McDonald's work that I helped create with a fantastic bunch of creative people at a lovely agency called Cossette in Toronto.
It's for the Big Mac with Bacon, and basically no one has ever messed with the composition and make up of a Big Mac for over 60 years, it's an icon, and here we are adding bacon to it. Who the hell do we think we are? So the big question is...is it still a Big Mac? There was also some great digital, out of home posters and ambient that also fuelled the debate.
JUST PASSING BY
Now here's a happy accident that really paid off.
Having been given the brief for the next McDonald's ad, and racking my brains as to how I'm going to crack it, imagine my delight whilst relaxing at home letting the left hand side of your brain do its thing, when I stumbled across a song called 'The Court of King Caractacus'.
Whilst listening to it each verse ended with the words 'Were just passing by'. It was a eureka moment!!!
I've also included a few posters that ran at the same time as the TV.
KIDS AND BOXES
Here's a commercial I did for McDonald's Happy Meals. I'm very pleased with the end result and it's already attracting lovely comments. Four days of screaming kids was a bit of a headache, but well worth it. Alongside the TV is the print campaign that accompanied it.
HAPPY MEALS
I was the Creative Director on McDonald's for quite a while and a fab team came to me with a lovely print campaign for Happy Meals and what they deliver for children. Whether that be coloured crayons or a magnifying glass for them to go and explore in their back garden. All done using the Happy Meal box itself with some clever paper engineering. Fun!!
HAPPY MEAL INTERACTIVE BOOKS
Imagine walking into a forest and discovering a giant book right in front of you!! Well that's what we did for McDonald's interactive books. We built a giant book and unbeknown to a group of children, we led them too it and let them explore. You can see the genuine surprise on their faces as they climb inside and start discovering. We wanted a real Raiders of The Lost Ark feel to it...very cinematic. I think we achieved it!! Also we did a few posters that accompanied it.
FESTIVE WINDOWS
A warm fuzzy feeling McDonald's Christmas ad that technically I'm very proud out. I love reflections in windows and the juxtaposition of both images. This is what I wanted, and the very talented director Neil Gorringe delivered it in spades.
